bath time

I was doing the dishes and asked Andrew to take Colby and get him ready for a bath. I walked into the bathroom while andrew was filling up colby's tub and saw this...

I guess andrew didn't know how to fill up the tub while holding a baby. problem solved - stick him in the laundry basket.

happy 1/2 birthday colby!

6 months ago i was just meeting my little angel boy for the first time. i can't imagine my life without colby. he has brought so much joy and happiness into our lives. i love him to death! i can't believe he is 6 months old already! so far he....

smiles ALL the time

giggles

eats his feet

has 2 teeth

loves to stand

loves eating cereal/veggies/fruit (or really just loves eating)

still not rolling over (he rolled from stomach to back today...so we'll see if that was an accident or not)

i think he's about 15 lbs

sleeping about 12 hours at night

he reaches out for anybody

anything and everything belongs in his mouth (which means he now takes a bottle!!)

i've always hated to iron. we bought and iron and ironing board a couple years ago, and i think andrew used it once. never me. i strongly believe in throwing your clothes in the dryer to get some of the wrinkles out. now...andrew has an internship and wants to look all spiffy every day. now i'm ironing. ALL THE TIME. on sunday i even ironed MY shirt. this world is crazy. don't worry, i'm still me. i lost a button on that same shirt and have absolutely no idea what to do to fix it. no thread, no needle, no talent. guess i don't have to worry about ironing it again.

andrew takes our car to work, so that means i'm housebound all day. which is fine with me because i'm terrible with directions and i'd just let lost - tough luck for andrew because that means no grocery shopping all week. saturday we went ALL OUT. our fridge is full, our freezer is full, our pantry is full... and i still have no idea what to make for dinner. but at least we have food now.

living in the armpit

Whenever i told someone we were moving to Bakersfield they gave me that pitiful look followed by "i'm so sorry" or "hope you aren't staying there long" or "have you heard that it's the armpit capital of the world?". well let me tell you, I LOVE IT!! We are in a good location, in a very friendly ward and there is a TON of shopping to do just a mile up the road (such an improvement from Rexburg). I would never guess it's the armpit capital of the world, there's a lot to do here! Moving down here, there are a few things i've learned:

  • Colby travels incredibly well
  • I'm sick of driving
  • Target makes me happy
  • Our upstairs neighbors are definitely NOT lds (the eminem blasting at midnight while she got ready to go clubbing gave that away)
  • I love our new apartment
  • I have the best parents and parent-in-laws
  • Cheez-its taste good with chocolate

If you're anything like me, you love looking at different apartment/homes. so here are some pics...

(i realize the garbage can is not located in the kitchen...there is no room)

Baby Shower!

This past week Diana threw me a baby shower!! nope, not expecting, it was for Colby. we weren't able to have a shower with andrew's side of the family while i was pregnant, so now was the perfect time! it was so much fun having colby help open his gifts (plus it took the pressure off me!)

Smile!

While my sis was here for Christmas I asked her to take pictures of me and Andrew (and Colby, but he wouldn't stay happy long enough, so i took matters into my own hands for that one)

and our fun photo shoot of the boy (sorry for the picture overload... I can't stop taking pictures!)
